(no subject)

Went to the British museum yesterday and looked at some Korean Moon jars, which were beautiful. Also saw the Terracotta army exhibition. Found it slightly alarming that the first emporer decided to conquer not just China, but the entire universe, at age 13. And I thought today's kids were bad. Scary stuff.

On a completely unrelated topic, am I the only person who likes the new Kylie single, and not just the accompanying video (which i think almost everyone agrees is very good)?

What is a Korean Moon Jar?

It's a huge, imperfectly round white jar that was made in the 16th/17th centuary. Only twenty of the original ones survive (though new ones are made by a few people in korea). Due to thier slightly uneven shape, they seem to look like the different phases of the moon as you walk around them, hence the name. Vast, smooth, tactile, calm things, I loved them.
