Skins

it's been offcially confirmed that after this series, Skins will move on to an entirely new cast: http://community.livejournal.com/skinsfans/319391.html

Are producers not worried they will run out of stereo types after a few series? Actually stereo-type is the wrong word, as it implies a two dimensional character that is entirely surface, where as those in Skins are very much well-rounded. But it's true that each one conforms to a very specific idea: theres the gay one who's sexuality clashes with that of his best friend, the one from a traditional, religeous family, who is trying to balence between two opposing cultural influences. Then theres the geeky virgin one, living in the shadow of the manipulative charming bastard one, etc etc. All very clear, recogniseable characters. If they aim to keep this up with a new set every two series, surely they will run out of steam very quickly? Also, in giving the characters a maximum of two series to make thier mark, the series will be formular, rather than character, driven. It's a brave descicion to get rid of characters that the viewers have spent a year getting attatched to. I hope it's the right one!

Does anyone know if any of the (current) cast have other projects lined up?

At least there will be another series - I was so pissed off to hear that Nearly Famous has been cancelled. I loved that show!
