From the club bohemia website:

"We start the night WITH the Bohemia Lounge, old and new songs to set the mood and prepare you for the extravaganza to come. Music to drink and chat to, the dancing comes later after the performances. You will hear more avant-garde music from the likes of Andrew Bird, Antony & The Johnsons, Bjork, Bobby Conn, Clare Fader & The Vaudevillans, Coco Rosie, Devandra Barnhart, Destroyer, Divine Comedy, The Dresden Dolls, Jack, Jill Tracy, Kate Bush, Kurt Weil, Marc Almond, m83, Nick Cave, Patrick Duff, Patrick Wolf, Peggy Lee, PJ Harvey, Raphael, Rasputina, Regina Spektor, Shirely Bassey, Strangelove, The Tiger Lillies, Ute Lemper, Velvet Underground, Voltaire and many many more.

After the bands and performances the the Bohemia DJs (
Kitten, Preston and David Ryder-Prangely turn things up a little to get you dancing with our unique mix of glitter & glam, rock & roll and cabaret decandence right until we close at 2am from the likes of..."etc, etc, etc.

WHAT?! "music to sit and chat to"? When on earth did this happen? Was this format present at the night of 1000 Ziggy's? Since when was club boho a 'sit and chat' sorta club? there are plenty of other clubs in london which cater for the 'sit and chat' crowd. Heck, even if you require to be surrounded by glittery, be-platformshoed people while you sat and chat, you could go to Stay Beautiful. And while I realise that even the most hardened dance floor addict needs occaisional respite to rest thier weary feet, I think turning the first few hours or so of bohemia into a 'sit and chat' club would be a mistake. Theres not enough seating for a start. I wonder why they're doing it? they cant want to attract more punters as the buffalo bar is a titchy venue anyway, and always gets filled to bursting point at around 10.30-ish anyway. Hmmm.

(note: the above is NOT a tirade on those who do primarily sit and chat at Bohemia. Im just annoyed that the rest of us are no longetr allowed the choice (well, have you ever tried to fill a dance floor with Antony and the Johnsons?) for those first few hours. When I go to Bohemia, I wanna go dancin'! Not stand around bemoaning the lack of seating/ dancable music).

But, hey, maybe i'm being too hasty. I'll give it a go...

In other news, went to see sussex uni openday yesterday. And my verdict is...

  • Does all my courses
  • Not too far away from home
  • next to Brighton (it's "London by the sea", dontcha know!)
  • Has good reputation
  • drop-dead-gorgeous campus
  • And not one, but two not-bad-looking-at-all psychology lecturers. :)

Yup yup, Sussex is the one for me, methinks...

Just to let you know [that I'm not ignoring you] I got a blank text from you. As I am in Israel, it costs 35p per text, so didn't text back. Sorry.

Gah. *kills t-mobile*. I shant pester you to come a-bohemian-ing with me on sat, as Im thinking you'll still be all tired and jet-lagged, yes? but you know you're always more than welcome to join us (we're planning to corruupt Sof this time! *evil snigger*).
What time do you come back on Friday?

Oh, and the blank text was intended to just say: *hugs*

Aww, thanks! *hugs back*

No, I'm not going to come. It took me 24 hours to recover on the journey here, so I really don't think I'll be up to clubbing. I might go to a scientific lecture in central London, but sitting around in formal clothes mumbling obscenities at the lecture for obviously being wrong, then getting sloshed on the Ri's tab, is somewhat different from all night dancing.

My dear, did you come to any conclusions regarding who the male singer should be for your Media/whether to use a different song?

Oh god, media *runs and hides from evil coursework* Raaaaaaaaargh, well the deal is thus far: I played a few tracks to Mr Royden, and he really liked Crystal Clear by the Firey Furnaces, so im trying to think up ideas for that, while simultanously trying to finish storyboarding the Seafood track (incase I cant think of anything for the firey furnaces track) and trying (and so far failing) to find singers/lead male parts for the seafood video. And apparently the filming has to be all done and dusted by the end of half term, which is rather scary (but I'm praying Royden will give us an extension for that). So, yeah, everything is still very much up in the air with regards to media. And i've realised: where on earth am I going to find the band's instruments and microphones from? *panics*
Any help anyone can provide with regards to any aspect of the video will be VERY greatly recieved. Thankyou.

I could probably get you mics. But you'll have to wait. Otherwise ask Music Dept. I'm sure Ms. T will be only too happy to help. They're only for show after all.

phew *panics slightly less*. But what about the guitars and the bass? And the singer to sing into the mics? and the lead male part for the singer to sing about? *panics again*

don't worry I am also panicing...I have had 2 bands cancel on me for media and we were suppose to film today..

Mr royden "assured" me that I will find someone to do it...but that idea is kind of slipping further and further away....

If you like I'm sure I could help you come up with some ideas for the Fiery Furnaces track. Can you do anything with animation?

doubt it, we are at the mercy of Q.E's budget after all! and I have yet another reason to panic, as I have a nasty feeling I have lost the cd with said firey furnaces track on it. *cue more panicking*
