retro_geekWhat a shit 24 hours. First I lose my job. The shop where I work is closing down on Friday, so today (well, technichally yesterday now) was my last day. Only they only told me that this morning. They couldn't give me at least a few days notice, could they? When I went to camden a few days ago, I noticed a few part time job vacancies about, but did I hand in my cv and go for them? No, of course I bloody didn't, because I was convinced I had a job of my own.
Next, I cant get into my faveourite clubnight. After the shock of losing my job, I felt like I could do with a decent night out. So Joe comes over and together we spend aaaaages covering ourselves in makeup and face paint and glitter and tiaras and stickers and electrical tape and everysingle body adornment and make up item you could possibly think of. And once we had done all that and stepped back to see the affect, (without trying to sound big-headed), we did both look pretty impressive (as we bloody well should, given the amount of time, money, and effort we had put in). So, ignoring the casual insults from Mother dearest, we set off to the Buffalo bars in Islington, meeting a very sweet shropshire based father/daughter combo who were off to a party together. Anyways, we arrive at the club, stroll up to the door- and are turned down. We try to tell the bouncer that he's let us in before. His reply that previous months were "different". Why? Im still not sure. Disappointed ,me and Joe decide to go for a wander round camden to see if theres anywhere there we might go to and enjoy. There isn't. So we decide to go back to bohemia, in the hope of there being different bouncer by now. there isn't, but we decide to try our luck anyway, adding yet more make-up and me taking off my coat (brrrrr, t'was cold) in the hope the bouncer wouldn't recognise us. But he did, and grinned as he refused to let us in again. He then had the audacity to insist that he hadn't let Joe in last month- even thought he had. Joe at this poit lost his temper a bit and swore at the bouncer, which did not go down well. God knows if we'll ever be let in again. God knows when I can afford to go again.
It's been a tough few days. I really could have done with tonight.
