So the bbc have stopped thier blue peter badge scheme...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4857676.stm

Is it just me, or is this whole fuss over these badges just a bit over the top?

I mean, it's not as though there are going to be any more badges circulating than there would be anyway, is it?

And with the papers full of shock-horror headline about how kids today are too fat/lazy/stupid/uncultured, surely anything thats gets them to visit more museums/zoos/etc,etc can only be a good thing?

And while on the subject of blue peter, has anyone else seen the new (and Blue peter themed) Will Young video? (more information can be found here: http://popjustice.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=309&Itemid=1). Obviously it's a work of complete genious, but am i the only person who finds it all nostalgic and "awwww"-inducing, rather than hilairiously funny?

1. People are gaining entry into events where they haven't earnt them.

2. Some are making fakes that are passing for real badges.

I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner.

And yes, I watched a preview of it on a programme, it's really quite clever :)

1. Im sure half of the drawings/poems/modles/etc that have "earned" people badges were, at least in part, the product of the parents of the kid!
2. Fakes are a different matter alltogether. Besides, Im sure there were probably fakes around before this current "scandal".

Some bloke put one up that he made, but it was so obviously fake...crooked and the ship looked like it was sinking.

It made £60 in the end, I think. Not bad :/

'And here's one I made earlier...' :D

Lol! But who would pay £60 for an obviously fake badge? from what i heard, some of the real ones were going for considerably less than that. Straaaaaaaaange people...

I guess it's just the novelty of a crappy badge than someone thought would be a laugh and actually made a profit from.

Oh the unacknowledged winners of this world :)
